Design Toscano began in 1990 as a small family-owned business inspired by a memorable trip to Paris and the magnificent gargoyles that overlook the iconic Notre Dame Cathedral. Captivated by the artistry, history, and character of these architectural masterpieces, the founders set out to share similar treasures with customers across the United States. What started as a passion for distinctive art, architecture, and historical design soon grew into a mission to offer unique, hard-to-find décor, furnishings, statuary, and collectibles that help customers create spaces filled with personality, imagination, and inspiration.
In 1993, Design Toscano introduced its now-iconic Medieval gargoyles to the US market. Their popularity sparked the expansion of the company's product collections, which soon grew to include influences from Greek and Roman antiquity, Egyptian culture, Asian artistry, tropical destinations, exotic landscapes, and countless other historical and artistic traditions from around the world.

In 2025, Design Toscano entered an exciting new chapter when the company was acquired by new ownership based in the furniture capital of the world High Point, North Carolina.
